31/01/2003 (Agence Europe) - Hartmut Nassauer, CDU MEP, asserted that when the Treaty of Nice enters into force on Saturday 1 February, "the worst possible reform and we hope the least significant in the history of the European Union" which must be replaced as soon as possible even before enlargement in 2004 with a better draft. Mr Nassauer particularly insists on the generalisation of qualified voting co-decision, "in principle" for the European Parliament and the "strict respect for the principle of equitable democratic representation". According to the German MEP, "Europe can no longer allow the single decision of government s to be left for a long time in areas so important and central as foreign and security policy, co-operation in justice and internal affairs and even agriculture".
