22/01/2003 (Agence Europe) - According to an initial estimate published by Eurostat on 21 January, the Euro-zone showed an external trade surplus (with the rest of the world) in November of EUR 9.9 billion, compared to EUR +6.4 billion in November 2001. The surplus chalked up in October 2002 was EUR +9.4 billion, compared to EUR +10.1 billion in October 2001. The Euro-zone registered an external trade surplus of EUR 95.2 billion for the first eleven months of 2002, compared to EUR +40.7 billion in 2001. The first estimates of the surplus for Union trade (EU15) with the rest of the world in November 2002 showed a surplus of EUR 0.8 billion compared to a deficit of EUR 04 billion in November 2001. In October 2002, the surplus was EUR 0.5 billion compared to EUR +3.4 billion in October 2001. The EU15 registered a surplus estimated at EUR 4.5 billion during the first eleven months of 2002, compared to a deficit of EUR 45.4 billion in 2001.
