22/01/2003 (Agence Europe) - The Co-Presidents of the Greens/EFA Group in the European Parliament, Daniel Cohn-Bendit and Monica Frassoni, want to write to Presidents Cox and Simitis, as well as Enlargement Commissioner Verheugen to denounce the "unacceptable behaviour" of the Malta Labour Party which, they accuse in a press release, of trying to have the Secretary General of the European Greens, Arrnold Cassola struck off the electoral register. In the tolerant and democratic Europe that we are building, there is no place for anti-democratic and intolerant politicians, such as the present leadership of the Malta Labour Party "who have declared that they will not respect the will of the Maltese people in the forthcoming referendum" on EU membership, Cohn-Bendit states indignantly. And Ms. Frassoni recalls that Arnold Cassola was "democratically elected to represent the aspirations and wishes of the around ten million European voters who vote for the 32 member Green parties of the European Federation of Green Parties, including Alternattiva Demokratika".
