20/01/2003 (Agence Europe) - Macedonian President Boris Trajkovski has formally agreed that the EU should take over command of the NATO mission, Allied Harmony, in Macedonia. This was stated in a letter sent on Friday to Javier Solana, High Representative for CFSP. Joint action defining the framework of the mission should be approved by the General Affairs Council on 27 January. Meetings will be held in February between the EU and NATO in order to finalise "permanent arrangements" on the use of NATO assets by the EU for ESDP operations. To this end, Javier Solana is to meet Lord Robertson, NATO Secretary General, next Friday.
