Washington disappointed at European reaction to container security initiative

Brussels, 15/01/2003 (Agence Europe) - Robert C. Bonner US Customs Service Commissioner is sad to be "disappointed" by the European Commission's decision to begin infringement proceedings against Member States taking part in the Container Security Initiative. On Tuesday, the Commissioner declared to a Washington press conference that this was the only initiative that had been developed to better protect trade - at main or medium level - namely by way of container transport.
