Brussels, 30/12/2002 (Agence Europe) - The Danish Presidency has confirmed that an extraordinary Transport Council will be held on 31 December, at 10: 00 a.m., which will debate the issue of eco-points. The Presidency had established on 20 December that a qualified majority supported its latest compromise, which provided for percentage ranges for the reduction of eco-points in 2005 and 2006. Austria, however, continues to find that the arrangement does not go far enough, whereas Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands reject the proposed solution for opposite reasons (see EUROPE of 23/24 December, page 6, 19 December, page 7, and 18 December, page 8).
