Commission asks the Court to impose a daily penalty on Italy for failure to transpose the Working Time Directive

Brussels, 30/12/2002 (Agence Europe) - On 9 March 2000, the Court of Justice issued a judgement (Case C-386/98) condemning Italy's failure to adopt, within required deadlines, the laws, regulations and administrative provisions needed to comply with Directive 93/104/EC on working time. The Commission has established that Italy has still taken no measures to comply with this judgement. It is therefore applying to the Court of Justice for the imposition of a daily penalty in the amount of EUR...
