Brussels, 26/11/2002 (Agence Europe) - After the informal dinner on 18 November under the chairmanship of the Dutch Minister for European Affairs, Atzo Nicolai, who allowed a certain number of "small" Union countries to exchange their views on the European Convention (see EUROPE of 23 November, p.4), a further meeting of the same kind will be held on 4 December at Greece's initiative. This was pointed out by Giorgios Katiforis, MEP representing the Greek government at the Convention. He specified that it will mainly be a question of discussing the way to make the Union Council more effective without creating the post of long-term president (that these countries reject) and of strengthening the Community method. In addition to Greece, the Benelux countries, Ireland, Finland, Sweden and Austria are expected to attend the meeting.
