14/11/2002 (Agence Europe) - Commissioner Bolkestein presented the "Competitiveness" Council of Thursday with his new proposal for a directive on takeover bids, that most Member states welcomed. Germany, however, reiterated its reservations. The German Minister of State for Justice Hans Jorg Geiger said that, from the German point of view, the proposal was "unfair", as it does not enable a company's general assembly to provide the board with defensive measures in case of a hostile takeover...
