German THYSSENKRUPP, which is already a shareholder with 24.5% of Spanish GALMED (production capacity 400,000 tonnes of galvanised steel annually) is ready to buy up the remainder of the capital held by ARCELOR, the new steel giant formed by USINOR, ARBED and ACERALIA. Furthermore, ARCELOR has sold the 49% that it held in Spanish BAMESA ACEROS (turnover EUR 500 million expected for 2002). Earlier, 14% was sold to the Spanish holding company ARMASFI and the 35% remaining to the Turkish group...
