Brussels, 12/09/2002 (Agence Europe) - In Brussels on 27 September, the day before its AGM, the European Women's Lobby is organising a "Convention on the Future of Europe: Women Speak Out!", chaired by EWL President Denise Fuchs. Speakers include the Employment and Social Affairs Commissioner Anna Diamantopoulou, President of the EP Women's Rights and Equal Opportunities Committee Anna Karamanou, MEP and Member of the European Convention Anne Van Lancker (Belgian Socialist) and (to be confirmed) Danuta Hübner, Secretary of State for European Integration, Member of the Convention representing the Polish government, and Julianne Bir (European Trade Union Confederation), Member of the Praesidium of the Youth Convention. The seminar aims to bring together women across Europe and EU politicians to debate and assess results anti-capitalist movement achieved to date by the Convention from a gender perspective and how to ensure that the voice of women is heard in the debate on the future of Europe.
