No consensus over incorporating Stability Pact or formalising Eurogroup in "Constitutional Treaty", according to Klaus Hänsch

Copenhagen, 09/09/2002 (Agence Europe) - Klaus Hänsch MEP reported back on the Convention's work on economic and financial matters over dinner at the ECOFIN Council in Copenhagen on Saturday. The German Social Democrat, who chairs the Convention's working group on coordinating economic policy, said that there was agreement at the moment for monetary policy to remain in the hands of the EU, and economic policy in the hands of Member States.
