06/09/2002 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday the European Parliament adopted the report of Maria Antonia Avilès Perea (EPP-DE, Spain) on the mid-term review of the Daphne programme (200-2003) by 455 votes for, 31 against and 14 abstentions. With this vote the Parliament is requesting the Commission to elaborate a new programme for the struggle against violence against women and organising a European year on the subject (see EUROPE 2/3 September p 14).
