Brussels, 30/08/2002 (Agence Europe) - According to a Eurostat "flash estimate" published on Friday, inflation in the euro area rose from 1.9% in July to 2.1% in August, overshooting the goal of 2.0% set by the European Central Bank (ECB). Inflation had not reached 2.0% since last May, after which it dropped to 1.8% in June, before starting to climb again in July.
