28/05/2002 (Agence Europe) - Nikos Gargantas is the new governor of the Central Bank of Greece, replacing Lucas Papademos, who has become the Vice President of the European Central Bank. Mr Gargantas, who was Vice Governor of the Central Bank, has been a member of the EU Monetary Committee since 1999.
