Brussels, 02/05/2002 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission's Directorates General "Information Society" and "Enterprise" are organising a Conference in Brussels on 16 May on "eEurope: SMEs GoDigital". Supported by the Commissioner responsible for companies and the information society, Erkki Liikanen, this conference aims to share the results and experiences of GoDigital, as part of the eEurope Action Plan, one year into the initiative, as well as to outline potential future actions. The GoDigital initiative, launched as part of the eEurope Action Plan, encourages companies to use the Internet in their business and aims to maximise these activities' impact through exchanging knowledge and best practices, e-commerce readiness and benchmarking, and to prepare SMEs for electronic trade. Speakers at the event will include national and regional governments, leading industry representatives, SMEs and key officials from European Institutions.
