26/03/2002 (Agence Europe) - The Islamic Court of Appeal in Sokoto, in Nigeria, has acquitted Safiya Hussaini, whose death sentence by stoning for adultery had caused an unprecedented outcry worldwide, mainly from the various European institutions. The same day, it came to AFP's knowledge that another court in Nigeria (in Bakori, in the State of Katsina in the northern part of the country) had condemned another woman, Amina Lawal, to death for adultery last Friday.
