Brussels, 04/03/2002 (Agence Europe) - The Spanish Presidency has issued a declaration in which the EU "welcomes the announcement of a meeting between the Heads of State of Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia to be held in Rabat upon the invitation by his Majesty King Mohamed VI." The EU "is encouraged by the fact that the three Mano River countries have now decided to pursue a political dialogue at the highest possible level. The European Union calls on the three Heads of State to pursue this dialogue in a constructive and forward-looking manner and to endorse implementation of the confidence-building measures agreed earlier within the framework of the Mano River Union. The EU wishes to assure the three Heads of State of its full support, particularly through the Presidency's Special Representative to the Mano River Union, in their search for a peaceful development in the Mano River Region."
