24/01/2002 (Agence Europe) - Given recent developments in Afghanistan, and especially the overthrow of the Taliban regime and the setting up of an interim government, on 21 January the EU Council of Ministers repealed its 22 January 2001 common position (2001/56/CFSP) relating to the establishment of peace and stability, the promotion of the respect of human rights, humanitarian aid and the fight against drugs in that country.
