24/01/2002 (Agence Europe) - So as to follow-up the political agreement secured at the December Agriculture Council, the EU Council of ministers has formally approved through a qualified majority (the Swedish delegation voting against) the amended regulation extending, by two years (2002/03 and 2003/04) the current amount of aid to seed producers, through the setting up of a stabilising mechanism limiting to 100 million euro a year (against 109.5 in 2000) spending provided for this production.
