15/01/2002 (Agence Europe) - Opening the European Parliament's session, the chair of the sitting, the venerable Mario Soares announced that various MEPs had gone over from one party to another: the British Labour MEP Richard Balfe has left the Socialists to join the Non Aligned; Danish Social Democrat, Freddy Blak, has left the Socialists to join the United Left/Nordic Green Left; and the Italian Socialisti democratici MEP, Claudio Martelli, who had been one of the Non Aligned since the technical group of independent deputies was would up, has joined the Liberals.
