Brussels, 27/11/2001 (Agence Europe) - In the name of EU steel producers, the Eurofer association has just lodged an anti-dumping complaint against imports of hot laminated coil from Egypt, Iran, Libya, Slovakia, Turkey and Hungary. According to Eurofer, the total EU imports of hot laminate coil rose 11% during the first seven months of this years and during the same period, imports from the six countries in questions had increased 88%, their market share doubling to reach some 12% of the total European market. Eurofer indicates that the increase in exports and the increase in market share for the countries targeted have caused huge damage to the EU producers and caste doubt over the dumping practices, specifying that dumping margins total 45%. Recalling the difficulties faced by the sector in Europe, the association underlines that these imports simply exacerbate its problems, leading to production stoppages, financial losses and job threats.
