27/11/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Investment Bank (EIB) is granting a loan of EUR 400 million for investment in favour of primary and secondary school facilities in Greece, in the Attica region in particular. The EIB loan, to run for 20 years, will be granted to the School Building Organisation SA (SBO) which has, since 1962, been largely responsible for the development of schools in Greece. In 1998, SBO was transformed into a private company with the Greek State as the sole shareholder. The loan will contribute to the acquisition of land for building schools, renovation and extension work in order to have over 3,500 more classrooms, as well as the building of laboratories, libraries and sports installations.
