Brussels, 31/10/2001 (Agence Europe) - Didier Reynders has invited his counterparts of the euro-zone to participate in discussion on the economic situation and growth prospects in Europe, on Monday evening, within the framework of the Eurogroup. Discussion work will also cover the budgetary situation in Belgium, Greece, Ireland and Luxembourg. Other than the specific case of Ireland (which will also be treated during Ecofin: see EUROPE of 29/30 October, p.14), the other countries do not pose a problem as regards the aims of the Stability and Growth Pact. Furthermore, the Commission will report on the latest developments concerning changeover to single currency.
