26/10/2001 (Agence Europe) - The EU, the United States and Russia made a joint appeal in Gaza Thursday evening on Yasser Arafat to "ensure the respect of the cease-fire decreed by the Palestinian Authority, including the arrest of those who ignore his orders and through additional measures against terrorist organisations" and on Israel "to immediately pull out of Zone A (under Palestinian control), stop summary executions, demand greater restraint of its army and totally respect the cease-fire". The press release was read by UN Special Envoy Terje Roed-Larsen, having met Yasser Arafat with EU Special Envoy Miguel Angel Moratinos, Russian Envoy Andrei Vdovin and the American Consul in Jerusalem, Romald Schlicher.
