Colloquium on 7 and 8 November in Lausanne

Lausanne, 26/10/2001 (Agence Europe) - The Swiss Institute of Comparative Law and the Jean Monnet Foundation for Europe, chaired by Mr. Rieben, are organising a colloquium in Lausanne on 7 and 8 November on "European Integration: history and prospects", which will be inaugurated by a session on "Peace and Security in Europe", with a "Historic introduction: testimony of a collaborator of Jean Monnet", that Professor Rieben will present. The other sessions will be on: - "European integration: how far and how?", with addresses by the Director General for Enlargement in the Commission, Mr. Landaburu, Mr. Poos MEP, and former EP President, Mr. Dankert; - "The Union of Citizens", with, notably, Mr. Leger, Advocate General at the Court of Justice in Luxembourg.

The former President of the European Commission, Jacques Delors, will close work and, on 8 November, hand the Jean Monnet Foundation Medals to Helmut Schmidt and Valery Giscard d'Estaing.
