12/09/2001 (Agence Europe) - After having examined the latest information on the evolution of classical swine fever in Spain, the Standing Veterinary Committee decided, on Tuesday, to make Community measures more flexible to ban, in some Spanish regions, the export of live pigs and porcine semen, ova and embryos. Restrictions that applied to the provinces of Valencia, Cuenca and Teruel have now been lifted. However, until 15 October, Spain will send only live pigs from these areas to other Member States if they come from holdings which have been subject to serological monitoring. Thus, only the province of Lerida (including the regions of Urgell, Noguera, Segrià, Garrigues and Sagarra) remain subject to the export ban.
