Brussels, 06/09/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has adopted two Objective 2 aid programmes for the Dutch provinces of Noord-Brabant and Limburg on the one hand, and Gelderland and Overijssel on the other. Between them, these regions will receive EUR 281 million in EU aid in the 2000-2006 period and EUR 787 million from the Dutch public and private sectors.
The programmes' three priorities are diversifying economic activities through spatial development; economic stimulation by encouraging innovation, the transfer of knowledge and promoting cooperation among companies; and social cohesion by cultural and training projects.
With these two programmes, the Commission has now approved all Dutch Objective 2 programmes.
