Transnational Radical Party appeal

Brussels, 04/09/2001 (Agence Europe) - The Transnational Radical Party has announced that "over fifty well-known personalities and over 400 citizens" have already signed its appeal called "Chechnya: that's enough!", addressed to the "Ladies and Gentlemen of the Council and the European Commission", who are accused of being accomplice "by omission" and soon "conscious allies of those committing massacres" and of a Russia "that is losing itself by torturing in Chechnya". In its appeal, the Radical Party tells the Commission and the EU Council: "You no longer have the choice. Unless, of course, you prefer to continue betraying the values and ideals of the Union and of its member countries (...). You must demand that President Putin negotiate as soon as possible with the legitimate President of the Chechen Republic of Itchkeria, Aslan Maskhadov, concerning the arrangements for the process of decolonisation of Chechnya. You must yourselves proceed unilaterally to the international recognition of the Chechen Republic of Itchkeria".
