Strasbourg, 04/09/2001 (Agence Europe) - The President of the European Parliament, Nicole Fontaine, pointed out on Monday, at the opening of the plenary session, that she had received an invitation from the authorities of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. "I shall be going to Macedonia in the next few days", she said, without stating the exact date, in response to a question by Belgian regionalist Nelly Maes (Volksunie), who asked her to write to the Macedonian president to support the process for ratification of the 13 August agreement.
We recall that the Macedonian Parliament is expected to endorse the agreement by 27 September. On Tuesday, the Macedonian representatives were to vote on the principle of constitutional revision, which should extend the rights of the Albanian minority.
