Brussels, 01/08/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission decided Monday to send Denmark an official request concerning the non-transposition into national law of some sections of the directive relating to waste from packaging. Denmark has not transposed into domestic law the definitions and objectives (formulated as a percentage) for recycling and evaluation set out in this directive. Although Denmark has set about adopting modifying legislation to fill the gaps in its national regulations, no new legislative text has been sent to the Commission to date. That is why the Commission decided to send a reasoned opinion to Copenhagen. Should there be no satisfactory response to this reasoned opinion within two months, the Commission may decide to take the matter to the Court of Justice.
