Brussels, 01/08/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission announced last Thursday that next September it would publish a "European innovation scoreboard 2001" and would simultaneously send out the details on the dynamic of innovation to each of the EU Member States. The "chart" will highlight the efforts that the Member States have achieved to equal the innovation performances of the world leaders in this area, as well as the results obtained. This publication meets a request formulated by the EU leaders during the European Council of Lisbon on the 23 and 24 March 2000. It is part of the global strategy aiming to make the European Union "the most competitive and dynamic growth economy in the world" in the space of ten years.
