Commission go-ahead for takeover of Norwegian group Storebrand ASA by Finnish group Sampo Oyj

Brussels, 31/07/2001 (Agence Europe) - Last Friday, the European Commission authorised the Finnish financial group Sampo Oyj (Sampo) to take control of the Norwegian group Storebrand ASA (Storebrand), active in the banking and insurance sectors. Following the merger, Sampo also replaces Storebrand in the Swedish insurance company If Skadeforsakring Holding AB (If P&C), specialised in non-life insurance.
