Italy's FIAT joins forces with France's EDF and other shareholders of Italy's MONTEDISON energy operator, to form an ad hoc company ITALENERGIA to launch a takeover bid on MONTEDISON. The other shareholders are the merchant banks BANCA DI ROMA, SANPAOLO IMI and INTESABCI and Romain Zaleski's company CARLO TASSARA. FIAT will hold 51% of ITALENERGIA, and EDF 18.
