Brussels, 27/06/2001 (Agence Europe) - During the meeting of the joint EU/Turkey Parliamentary Committee, the German Green member elected in France, Daniel Cohn-Bendit, proposed the organisation, under the aegis of the European Parliament, of a major hearing bringing together all the actors in the Cypriot issue: members of the two Cypriot communities, political leaders of both parts of the island, Mr Clerides and Mr Denktash as well as Turk and Greek Foreign Ministers, Mr Cem and Mr Papandreou. A letter along these lines will be sent to the Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs at the EP, Elmar Brok, and to Parliament President Nicole Fontaine. EUROPE will come back to the other aspects of this meeting tomorrow.
