Brussels, 20/06/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs, chaired by Giorgio Napolitano (Democratici di sinistra) is organising a meeting with members of the national parliaments of EU Member States and candidate countries in Brussels on 10 July, at which will also speak EP President Nicole Fontaine, Council President Louis Michel, Belgian Foreign Minister, and European Commission President Romano Prodi. Mr. Napolitano, who is preparing a report on relations between the EP and national parliaments, will introduce the work.
On 11 July, the Committee on Constitutional Affairs will discuss the delimitation of powers between the EU and Member States, topic that will be introduced by the rapporteur Alain Lamassoure (French, UDF). Annemie Neyts, Belgian Minister for European affairs, will speak on behalf of the Council Presidency.
