11/06/2001 (Agence Europe) - The Professional Chamber of the Enterprise Policy Group (EPG), created to advise the European Commission on the drafting of its enterprise policy, in accordance with the conclusions of the Lisbon European Council, gathered for the first time on Monday. This "professional" part of the EPG is formed of 35 representatives from industry, services and the business world in general (pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, agri-foodstuffs…). The other part of the EPG is formed of high-ranking civil servants from the Member States. This is the beginning of a process that will lead to recommendations to the European executive, before the next spring Summit in Barcelona in 2002, stated per Haugaard, spokesperson for Commissioner Erkki Liikanen.
