According to the British daily Financial times, VIVENDI UNIVERSAL is considering handing over control of France's largest mobile operator SFR to the British VODAFONE. The operation would enable VODAFONE to increase its shares in SFR from 20% to 32%. In exchange VODAFONE would sell VIVENDI its 15% stake in GEGETEL. This latter also has among its capital, other than VIVENDI UNIVERSAL, the British operator BT (26%) and American SBS COMMUNICATIONS (15%). CGETEL CURRENTLY HAS A 80% STAKE IN SFR.
