Klamt Report calls for compensation fund for victims of trafficking in human beings

Brussels, 01/06/2001 (Agence Europe) - The EP Committee on Justice and Home Affairs adopted unanimously, with some 50 amendments, the report by Eva Klamt (CDU) on combating trafficking in human beings, making clarifications to the Commission proposal as follows: 1) the trafficking of human beings must not only be punishable, but must also be considered a crime, which must not be the case for providing assistance for humanitarian reasons to persons without identity or working papers; 2) the...
