01/06/2001 (Agence Europe) - Further to our article on the recent visit to Brussels by Dalia Itsik, Israel's Minister for Trade and Industry (see yesterday, p.14), the Israeli Ambassador with the EU, Harry Kney-Tal, wished to make the following clarification: "Minister Itzik responded in the Euro Med Trade Ministers Conference to some of the heavily politicised speeches made, by saying that the purpose of her attending the Euro Med Conference was to discuss mainly trade issues. This was the gist of her first intervention during the conference. In the meeting between Commissioner Lamy and Minister Itzik that took place later on, Minister Itzik expressed her appreciation for the manner in which the Presidency and the Commissioner conducted the debate. During that meeting, the Commissioner and the Minister discussed ways of reinvigorating the Barcelona process, rules of origin and matters of mutual interest".
