Matsushita authorised to take sole control of two battery companies

Brussels, 30/05/2001 (Agence Europe) - The Commission gave the go ahead to an operation through which the world-wide manufacturer of electrical and electronic equipment Matsushita Electric Industrial CO will take sole control of Philips Matsushita Battery Corporation and Philips Matsushita Battery Poland SA, the Belgian and Polish subsidiaries that it equally owned, until now, with the Dutch Philips. The operation will not affect competition in the market for batteries.
