Slovakia and Lithuania catch up with Poland and Czech Republic - Results of Thursday's negotiating meetings

Brussels, 17/05/2001 (Agence Europe) - We give below an overview of the results of accession negotiations held on Thursday, at deputy level (ambassadors of the Fifteen, head negotiators for candidates), with six of the twelve candidate countries: - Cyprus took the lead at the head of the twelve candidates by closing three more chapters on Thursday: free provision of services, transport, energy. In total, Cyprus has now closed 21 or the 30 chapters of acquis communautaire to be negotiated; -...
