Buitenweg report provides for EP to receive one billion euros for budget 2002, up 4.8% compared to 2001

Brussels, 04/05/2001 (Agence Europe) - The EP's Committee on Budgets adopted, on Thursday, the report by Kathalijne Buitenweg (Greens, Netherlands) on the EP's preliminary draft estimates for the 2002 budgetary procedure. The rapporteur recommends a general operational budget of EUR 1.035 billion (up 4.8% compared to the EUR 987 million for the 2001 budget), which corresponds to 20% of the overall volume of credits under Heading 5 (administrative spending of financial perspectives).
