The German chemical and pharmaceutical group BAYER sold, as of 1 May, its 50% in EC ERDOELCHEMIE (petrochemicals; turnover of EUR 1.9 billion in 2000 with a production of 4.4 million tonnes of chemical products and 2,200 employees) to BP AG. BP AG is the German subsidiary of the British oil company BP, which already owns the rest of the company.
