Brussels, 03/05/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has adopted rural development plans for the period 2000-2006 in favour of the island of Madeira (Portugal) and Campania (Italy). In the case of Madeira, the Commission will release EUR 22.448 million, the total cost of the plan being EUR 28.095 million. For Campania, the Community contribution will amount to EUR 151.180 million, with total spending for implementing the plan amounting to EUR 201.652 million. Both projects mainly integrate four kinds of measures: early retirement, support to disadvantaged areas, actions for environmental protection and the forestation of farming land.
