- Poland: the European insurance multinational EUREKO is to acquire a further 21% stake in the Polish insurance company PZU, thereby gaining control of the company. EUREKO will pay at least 1,164 zlotys (EUR 320) per share. EUREKO acquired 30% of PZU in 1999 for EUR 735 million and was recently authorised by the Polish Treasury to take control of the company. The Treasury holds 59% of PZU and will be quoting 50% on the stock exchange. See EI of 6 April.
