The British groups MARKS & SPENCER and French DANONE have announced a vast restructuring plan of their activities. MARKS & SPENCER has announced the simple closure of all its shops in mainland Europe by the end of the year, leading to the loss of 4,390 jobs. For its part, DANONE has announced the closure of six biscuit production plants of the 36 it owns in Europe, leading to the loss of 1,780 jobs.
