Brussels, 30/03/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission approved, on 29 March, a financing of EUR 1.95 million in favour of the peoples' of Georgia and Armenia affected by drought. Managed by ECHO, the aid will allow NGOs, for eight months, to answer the immediate food needs and to guarantee revenues for small farmers, by preventing the danger of a rural exodus. 1.05 million will go to Georgia, EUR 900.000 to Armenia.
