Brussels, 30/03/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has authorised Shell Erneuerbare Energien GmbH, an integrated holding company in the Royal Dutch Shell group, to take over joint control of Siemens Solar, a joint venture between Siemens AG and E.ONEnergie AG in the solar energy field. The concentration will not entail the creation of a dominant position on the world markets for solar cells and modules because of the strong competition on these markets. According to the arrangements of the agreement, Shell will participate in the capital increase of Siemens Solar and will transfer to the joint venture its German solar activities.
