Brussels, 14/03/2001 (Agence Europe) - The Commission decided not to oppose the British aid scheme "Partnership support for regeneration: Community/voluntary regeneration" (local authorities/voluntary sector), which will in part replace the "English Partnerships/Partnerships Investment Programme" (EP/PIP), from which the Commission had requested changes to be made in 1999. According to the Commission, this scheme, which will benefit local authorities and none profit organisations from the voluntary sector (for a total of around EUR 16 million for the 2000-2003 period), does not contain any elements of aid according to the meaning of the EC Treaty.
